To develop and support clinical collaboration between physical therapy academia and the clinical community and to promote excellence by enhancing the quality and efficiency of clinical education through coordination of activities and sharing ideas.

  • Set common clinical rotation schedules.

  • Participate in collaborative scheduling process for clinical education rotations.

  • Provide educational opportunities for development of clinical community.

  • Facilitate communication among members of the clinical community.

  • Provide a network for the support and sharing of ideas in clinical education.

  • Review and monitor process of student clinical performance evaluation.

  • Promote student instruction through provision of scholarships.

  • Explore and implement innovation in the delivery of clinical education.

Academic Institution Membership:

Eligibility:

Institutions of higher education in the southern California area with a PT or PTA program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE).

Members:

Academic institution shall have one voting representative per program, to be selected by the academic institution.

Clinical Association Membership:

Eligibility:

Clinical practice entities that provide clinical education experiences for PT or PTA students from at least 2 academic institutions.

Members:

Clinical associate members will be non-voting members of SCCEC

Clinical associations may have multiple persons involved in clinical education participate in SCCEC and attend meetings.
